NEW DELHI: India reported 6,990 new Covid-19 cases lowest daily rise in 551 days.
India's tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 3,45,87,822, while the active cases have declined to 1,00,543, the lowest in 544 days, according to the Union Health ministry data updated on Tuesday. Active cases comprise of 0.29 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.35 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the health ministry said.
The death toll has climbed to 4,68,980 with 190 daily fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.
The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 53 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 156 consecutive days now.
A decrease of 3,316 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.69 per cent. It has been less than 2 per cent for last 57 days
Weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.84 per cent. It has been below 1 per cent for the last 16 days, according to the health ministry.
Meanwhile more than 137 crore (1,37,71,08,100) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Also, more than 22.70 Cr (22,70,98,006) balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
Moreover the cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 123.25 crore.
