NEW DELHI: India has reported 21,257 new Covid-19 cases, and 271 deaths in a span of 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Friday. The current recovery rate is 97.96%, highest since March 2020.
With a decline of 3,977 active cases, the country's active case load stands at 2,40,221 the ministry data showed. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.71%
The death toll has further climbed to 45,01,27 with 271 daily fatalities, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare.
The recovery of 24,963 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,32,25,221.
The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 1.53 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for the last 39 days, according to the ministry data.
The weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 1.64 per cent. It has been below 3 per cent for the last 105 days, the ministry said.
With the administration of 50,17,753vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 93Cr(93,17,17,191) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 90,68,525sessions.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7 last year, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19 last year.
India recorded two crore cases on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
