India legend MS Dhoni has hinted that he could retire at the end of this year's edition of the Indian Premier League.
Dhoni is now 40-years-old and only plays IPL cricket for the Chennai Super Kings, having announced his international retirement last year.
When asked about his future by Danny Morrison ahead of Chennai's clash with the Punjab Kings on Thursday, Dhoni insisted that he will be involved with the franchise next season but admitted it might not be as a player.
"You'll see me in yellow next season but whether I'll be playing for CSK you never know," Dhoni said.
"There are a lot of uncertainties coming up, two new teams are coming, we don't know what the retention rules are and so on."
Dhoni has previously spoken about his desire to play his final game in Chennai, but that would not be possible in this year's IPL as the rescheduled tournament is being played in the United Arab Emirates.
Speaking to fans during a virtual celebration of India Cements, whose managing director owns the Super Kings, Dhoni said: "When it comes to farewell, you can still come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game.
"So, you will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, we will come to see Chennai and play my last game over there and we can meet fans there."
Dhoni was also asked if he would be interested in making the move into acting, replying: "You know Bollywood is not really my cup of tea.
"As far as advertisements are concerned, I am happy to do them. When it comes to movies, I feel it's a very tough profession and very difficult to manage.
"I would let the film stars do it because they are really good at it. I will stick to cricket. The closest I can come to acting is advertisements and nothing more than that."
Dhoni will be India's mentor at the upcoming T20 World Cup and could become more involved with the national team after his retirement.
