India drought: Maharashtra farmers displaced

India drought: Maharashtra farmers displaced

People in large parts of India are experiencing their worst drought in decades.

It is forcing many to leave their lands and shelter in relief camps, as they wait for monsoon rains.

Before this, there was already a critical water shortage in the country.

The lack of rain, along with a rising demand for water, mismanaged resources, and climate change are being blamed for this drought.

Al Jazeera's Elizabeth Puranam reports from the hardest-hit region of Beed in Maharashtra state, western India.
