Event organiser Index Creative Village Plc has invested more than 100 million baht to upgrade facilities as it seeks to scale up event management.
Kreingkarn Kanjanapokin, co-founder of Index Creative Village, said the company invested mainly in new technology and equipment.
"Events have been slow for two years and more advertising has moved online," he said. "Now brands are starting to spend again on events to promote their products."
Mr Kreingkarn said the investment will help support increasing demand for brands and advertisers, as Index can offer total event management solutions.
Index held an open house yesterday called "Turn On 2018" to display new technologies for events, including Laser Symphony, Shapeformation, Dancing Drone, Godin Bot and Act Catcher.
Event organising is one of many media businesses that needs to improve itself to tackle digital disruption, Mr Kreingkarn said.
On-ground marketing is key for consumer goods, he said, but so is adapting to the changing behaviour of consumers.
Another source in event organising predicted that such companies will be unaffected by digital technology disruption because online media cannot put on physical events.
Event organisers have their own unique content for communicating with people, the source said.
Mr Kreingkarn voiced confidence that Index will achieve revenue of more than 1.65 billion baht this year, thanks to the company's creative business development unit, which was recently restructured to focus on three core competencies: creative business development, marketing services and I-Project.
I-Project provides services for special projects in Thailand and Asean countries such as music festivals, live concerts, seminars, workshops, special courses, exclusive business tours and trade fairs.
Mr Kreingkarn said the event organising sector last year contracted by 10% to 11.25 billion baht because of the economic slowdown but is expected to grow 5-10% this year.
