Independent senator for the ACT David Pocock and his wife Emma are expecting their second child.
The new bub is due early next year.
The couple's son will be two in November.
The Pocock children will soon also have some fine bedtime reading material.
Senator Pocock, a big nature enthusiast, is also writing a children's bird guide book.
Penguin Random House Australia announced on Thursday the acquisition of the new children's book by Senator Pocock, which will be called My Australian Bird Book.
Written with ecologist Jess Ward-Jones, the debut book will take the form of a birdwatching field guide for kids, aiming to be "both educational and engaging".
Filled with simple identification tips and engaging facts, the kid-friendly field guide covers the 300 species of the most commonly seen birds in Australia.
"Birds have been a constant source of wonder and excitement in my life," Senator Pocock said.
"From the birds of my childhood in Zimbabwe to the extraordinary diversity of species here in Australia, they have deepened my sense of wonder and shown me how much beauty can be found simply by paying attention.
"Birds offer everyone an opportunity to engage with the world around us, and this field guide for young people will help them identify and learn about the birds they see every day."
PRH Australia publisher Rebecca McRitchie was looking forward to the book's release.
"We're so delighted to be working with David and Jess on a field guide that will turn every walk into an outdoor treasure hunt. Birding is a hobby that continues to grow in popularity, and we think My Australian Bird Book will tap into that brilliantly," she said.
My Australian Bird Book is slated for release in 2028.
