Independent creative hub MerseyMade to replace Liverpool restaurant The Chancery

Liverpool is set to welcome new creative hub MerseyMade this October inside a former city centre restaurant.

The Chancery, on Paradise Street near Liverpool ONE, closed unexpectedly in December 2018 after less than two years in business.

Now MerseyMade, a studio and retail space for Merseyside’s creative talent, is set to take over the venue.

The space will feature 10 open studios where local artists and creatives can make and sell their works, alongside a retail area showcasing works from all over the region.

On top of the studios and retail space, MerseyMade will also feature a café named after the Gordon Smith Seaman’s Institute, which existed at Chancery House when in opened in the late 19th century.

The café will be run by former Great British Bake Off 2011 quarter-finalist Yasmin Limbert, who will be offering treats and a range of other food options.

Vicky Gawith, owner of MerseyMade, said: “MerseyMade will give the city a retail space where they can come and buy many wonderful items, handmade by local talent.

“These can be jewellery, artworks, clothing, gin and a lot more in between.

“By supporting MerseyMade, you will know that when you walk through our door and make a purchase, you will be directly helping someone in our local community."

The venue will also play host to live music sets, book launches, kitchen takeovers and comedy nights.

MerseyMade is expected to open in late October.
