'Independent and single' Galway man looking for love through election posters

A Galway man is running a new type of campaign for the upcoming elections.

Darren Coen is a new ‘independent and single’ campaigner with posters up looking for love.

His friends put up a series of fake election posters trying to find their pal a date in a very original way.

The posters, which can be seen all over south Dublin, say that he “will not stop until he gets tired.”

Darren told Newstalk Breakfast this morning: “It came as a surprise to me that I’m quote on quote running in an election, a bit of a shock to the system when I found out about it.”

Darren explained that he was ‘unfortunately the victim of a well thought-out prank.’

The Galway native added: “A couple of my friends from college pooled their resources both financial and creativity wise and came up with this fairly convincing looking election poster.”

Darren is now out to get his revenge on his friends funny prank.

Darren joked: “I know whose responsible but I’m trying to figure out how to let them know for my revenge. I am currently single they’re probably looking out for me, maybe trying to get me a couple of dates.

“It was very good on their part and I was completely caught me by surprise but hopefully I’ll win out at the end of the day and have a few nice dates out of it.”
