Independence march set to cause major traffic disruption in Ayr

Tomorrow's independence march is set to cause major traffic disruptions in Ayr.

Thousands are expected to attend the event in the town centre.

It will begin at 1.30pm at Blackburn car park and will end within the Low Green.

And Wellington Square, Barns Street, Dalblair Road, Alloway Place, High Street and Sandgate are set to be affected.

The march is likely to cause major congestion within Ayr Town Centre and the surrounding areas with road closures being put in place.

It is anticipated to be concluded by 3pm but this could be subject to change.

Drivers are asked to allow plenty of time for your journey and anticipate significant delays

They have also been asked to reduce speed when in the town due to stationary and queuing traffic, and to be aware of pedestrians participating in the procession.

Police will deploy additional officers throughout the event to keep people safe.
