IND vs SA 1st Test, Day 3: Bumrah suffers ankle sprain

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah

Centurion: India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday suffered a right ankle sprain while bowling against South Africa in the first Test here.

During the 11th over, Bumrah collapsed in his follow-through and left the field with Indian physio. His over, in which one ball was left, was completed by Mohammed Siraj.

"Jasprit Bumrah has suffered a right ankle sprain while bowling in the first innings," BCCI confirmed in a tweet. "The medical team is monitoring him at the moment."

In his absence, Shreyas Iyer has come in as substitute fielder. Bumrah provided an early breakthrough for India as he dismissed South Africa captain Dean Elgar in the first over of the innings.

Earlier, South Africa bundled out India for 327, with Lungi Ngidi taking 6/71. KL Rahul top-scored for India with 123. (UNI)
