IND vs ENG 2nd Test: India lead by 273 runs against England despite flurry of wickets

Shubman Gill battled through initial nerves to reach a hard-fought fifty, guiding India to 130 for four at lunch on day three of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam.

Despite James Anderson's two-wicket burst, Gill's resilience helped India extend their lead to 273, as they push for a series-leveling victory.

During the morning session, Anderson struck early, removing Rohit Sharma for 13 with a superb delivery that dislodged the off-stump. He then dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for 17, inducing a loose drive that ended in a catch for Joe Root at slip.

Gill, initially given out lbw to Tom Hartley, successfully overturned the decision upon review.

Gill steadily gained confidence and reached his first 50-plus score in 13 Test innings with a boundary off Rehan Ahmed. His partnership with Shreyas Iyer (29) posed a threat to England's hopes, until two remarkable catches turned the tide in their favor.

Ben Stokes' acrobatic effort saw him sprint backwards to take a stunning catch at long off, dismissing Iyer.

Shortly after, Ben Foakes showcased his skill behind the stumps, catching Rajat Patidar (nine) off Ahmed's bowling.

England, currently leading 1-0 in the five-match series, face a determined Indian side aiming for a comeback.
