Optical illusions are baffling for sure, but then we often credit them to the use of clever photoshop or other AI image editing tools. However, some people are talented enough to fool us with real, life-like optical illusions, that too at the most unusual places.
One such is seen in a viral video on Instagram by artist Mimi Choi. Mimi uses makeup and other things to create artwork on her face and other body parts. This isn't just simple makeup to look pretty, it is actually a skillful art of creating optical illusions. Mimi's one favorite theme is food.
In the viral video that has amassed 968K views, Mimi has explored several food themes that look real but are actually artwork on her body -- a ramen bowl on her head, her face turned into a big burger or a bowl of fries. She also transformed her legs into bananas, tomatoes, corn and a loaf of bread.
"Truly the most amazing, artistically talented human being I’ve ever seen in my life," a social media user commented.
"Wow amazing skill, beautiful n scary at once," another added.
Mimi is a Vancouver-based professional make-up artist. “I’m drawn to this style because I have complete freedom to create and express myself in ways that I can’t with words,” Choi told Vogue. “I feel that there is so much potential with this type of art, and my imagination is my only limit.”
“My makeup style has been described as surreal, shocking, unpredictable, and otherworldly,” Choi says of her aesthetic.
