An incredible video has captured the moment a bolt of lightning struck scaffolding in Cornwall. In among all the hot weather and sunshine, the duchy saw some dramatic weather scenes of its own the past couple of days.

Just before 7am yesterday morning (July 19) some rather ominous dark clouds could be seen rolling in from the coast at Penzance. Cornwall Live reports that lightning could even already be seen from the town at a distance.

And, while lightning didn't strike the town itself, Long Rock - between Marazion and Penzance - was and it was all witnessed by Zak Harries who works at Chris Sedgeman scaffolding yard. At around 6:52am Mr Harries was already filming the dramatic weather when lightning suddenly cracked from the sky towards the ground.

Mr Harries said there had been thunder and lightning for around 45 minutes prior to the clip, adding: "I was trying to catch the storm and luckily got the strike that hit closest."
