Dublin pubs: Incredible throwback receipt shows staggering amount of drinks that could be bought for under £20

A pint of Guinness fifty years ago cost just 19 pence, according to an incredible pub receipt from the 1970's.

The receipt, dated 1/6/1971, is from Leixlip United Football Club and shows just how much the cost of a night out has changed over the years.

There were 42 pints of Guinness on the tab, totalling £7.98 on the bill, which was posted on Twitter by Irish Football Pics.

They wrote: "The 70s lads, what a time. Baby Cham...Reminds me of my dear Gran. 42 pints of Guinness for £7.98! 8 small whiskeys for £1.52."

Small whiskeys, vodkas and gins also cost just 19 pence apiece.

Small Brandys were a bit more pricey, each costing £0.30.

A Cidona cost eight pence while a pint of Harp cost £0.24.

The tab had 111 drinks on it but there was still change leftover from a twenty.

The entire bill of 3 Cidonas, 42 Guinness, 25 Ale, 1 Harp, 8 small whiskeys, 2 bottles of orange, 1 sweet martini, 2 bottles of stout, 1 Carlsberg, 6 small vodkas, 2 glasses of stout, 2 baby cham, 2 Bacardi and coke, 5 small Brandys, 7 baby minerals and 2 small gins racked up a total of £19.94.
