Incredible 'string of pearls' lights up skies over Glasgow's east end

Last month saw one Glaswegian seek the help of others online to try and figure out what the strange object was he and his son spotted that resembled a 'levitating can of lager' floating across a rare cloudless sky above the city.

And it came in the wake of some bizarre ‘teensy bit aurora-like' beams of light were also spotted in the sky in February and another unidentified object with flashing lights that one local said was "moving too fast" to be a helicopter or a drone.

Now it seems we have another mystery on our hands that might arouse some excitement among UFO fans, after Colin Harkins, a resident in the Dalmarnock area of the city, spotted some astonishing bright lights in the sky last night.

The series of lights gave the impression they were in some kind of train, like a string of pearls and were falling towards earth as they lit up the night sky above the city.

While we aren't sure what it was that they saw, but we assume it was actually the SpaceX Starlink communication satellites.

Launched on Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida in May last year, the 60 satellites are now orbiting at approximately 273 miles above the Earth, and have been providing for a spectacular show for us here on occasion.
