Incredible ScotRail video shows train driver's view of sunny Forth Rail Bridge crossing

An incredible video from the seat of a train driver showing one of the most iconic rail journey views in Scotland has gone viral.

The clip, which places stuck at home Scots in the seat of a train driver crossing the Forth Rail Bridge, has been viewed over a quarter of a million times.

Posted on their official Twitter page, ScotRail added: "Ever wondered what it's like to cross the Forth Bridge in the driver's seat?"

Even more impressively, they managed to capture a little sunshine in the satisfying clip.

Delighting Scots across the country, the post has racked up over 6,000 likes with people flocking to post their own memories of one of the country's best known rail routes.

One Twitter user wrote: "When I was wee I totally thought the train went over the top, like a roller coaster. I’m still gutted that it doesn’t."

While another added that they used to regularly get this view, back in the 1960/70s, if you got a seat at the front "looking over the driver's shoulder, or a clear view from the right hand seats".

Scots author Ian Rankin even pitched in: "Pretty sure when I was a teen the last train from Edinburgh to Fife, you could sit up front with this same view. Drunk. It was mind-blowing."

When questioned on the safety of the filming and whether the driver filmed it, ScotRail responded that the camera was attached to the windscreen on the opposite side from the driver.
