Incredible response to Lockerbie woman's appeal for help paying for dog's hip surgery

Money has been pouring in for an appeal to help a Lockerbie woman pay for her dog’s hip surgery.

Marion Little asked fellow dog lovers to donate for the costs of two operations for Duke, her 17-month-old Spanish Mastin and now has £4,500.

She thanked Standard readers who responded to her plea for help to raise the sum of £12,000.

Marion, 61, said: “Since the story appeared in the Standard money has been flowing in.

“I got a donation of £700 once the article was in the paper and it has just been amazing.

“Duke is to get his first operation on August 18.

“So I am hoping this weekend more people donate. The response has been amazing and I hope it keeps up.

“I set up a justgiving page and paypal so it has been going well so far.”

Marion, who was forced to give up work as a care nurse following an operation to remove part of a lung, has taken in rescue dogs for most of her life.
