Incredible pink castle which once hosted Robert the Bruce goes up for sale in Aberdeenshire

A striking pink castle which lies close to the Banffshire coastline in Aberdeenshire and once played host to one of Scotland's most famous kings has gone up for sale.

The romantic 16th century Castle of Park site comes with eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms and six reception rooms spread over four floors, as well as an additional two-bedroom flat.

Best of all, it even has its own outdoor, all year round swimming pool.

The stunning estate, which also features 36 acres of sweeping gardens, was originally part of the Royal Forest of Banff and was granted by King Alexander II to a Norman knight, Sir Walram de Normanville in 1242.

With parts of the building dating back to the 13th century, the castle was rebuilt into a Z plan tower house in 1536, with a gothic tower added in 1829.

The original building is also said to have provided accommodation for Robert the Bruce when he ventured north during his reign as King of Scotland.

Described as a "wonderful opportunity" to create a private home or to continue to run as a guest house/corporate venue, the current owners have sympathetically refurbished the castle after purchasing it in 2007.

The current Laird is a keen open water swimmer and they installed the dual propulsion endless pool in the garden in 2017.

Priced at offers in excess of £1,500,000, the castle's 36 acres include well manicured lawns, ponds, woodland walks, a walled garden, an orchard and a croquet lawn.

Internal features including a billiard room with wood burning stove, a barrel vaulted dining room and even a historic chapel.

The agent in charge of the sale, Kight Frank's Tom Stewart-Moore, stated that the Great Hall with open fireplace, panelling and medieval painted ceiling together with the three window seats overlooking the front lawns is stunningly beautiful.

Located just south of the village of Cornhill, and close to the picturesque coastal village of Portsoy, the stunning castle lies close to the Moray Coast.
