The Northeast region of India consists of seven exotic and culturally rich states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. These states are relatively close to Thailand geographically and have much to offer, from breathtaking landscapes to a rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Held to promote the region to Thai visitors, the festival will be filled with exhibitions and a scintillating range of music and dance in zones A and B of the shopping mall. Among the colourful and charismatic folk traditions on show from the seven states will be dances such as the Naga, Manipuri, Bodo, Bihu, Bagrumba and Assamese.
Many top rock bands from Northeast India, including The Chronicles and The Featherheads, will share the stage with popular singers like Rahul Rajkhowa and Zubeen Garg, and international DJ Teri Miko. The festival will also see a glittering fashion show by well-known designers Atsu Sekhose, Arita Kashyap and others.
Numerous stalls will be selling textiles, arts and crafts. Horticultural products including fresh fruit and organic vegetables, as well as the famed teas of Assam will be available. Local visitors will also get the opportunity to taste the celebrated cuisine of the region.
There is no admission fee.
