An incredible mural has appeared in Edinburgh following the death of celebrated DJ and producer Andrew Weatherall.
The 56-year-old musician from Windsor died suddenly during the early hours of Monday morning, from a pulmonary embolism.
He was an icon for many music fans, rising to fame during the acid house era, he worked with artists including Primal Scream and New Order.
Some of his best known work includes music featured on Primal Scream's legendary Screamadelica album and his remix of Soon by My Bloody Valentine.
His face has now appeared on an Edinburgh street, after a tribute was left by artist Shona Hardie in the Meadowbank area in the days following his death.
Edinburgh Music Lovers shared snaps of the mural on Twitter, writing: "Amazing tribute to Andy Weatherall in Edinburgh. Had to go and see it for myself."
In a post to Facebook, the artist described the response on social media as "equals parts overwhelming and beautiful", adding that Andrew Weatherall was "out if this world".
A statement from Andy Weatherall's management following his death read: ‘We are deeply sorry to announce that Andrew Weatherall, the noted DJ and musician passed away in the early hours of this morning, Monday 17th February 2020, at Whipps Cross Hospital, London.
"The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately, the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful.
"His family and friends are profoundly saddened by his death and are taking time to gather their thoughts."
