Incredible moment Yorkshire DJ wins £10,000 TV - after spending just 50p on raffle ticket

A Yorkshire DJ was covered from head to toe in mud when he received the news he had won a TV worth more than £10,000 after buying a 50p ticket for an online competition.

Dale Castell from Wakefield had just finished a mountain bike ride when he received the call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams, who told him he had won a brand-new 85-inch Sony Master Series 8k TV.

The 38-year-old who said ‘this is a fantastic early Christmas present’ entered the competition by answering a question and was randomly selected from all correct entries.

The ticket for the luxury lifestyle competition only costs him 50p to enter.

Dale who is a father-of-one said: “This is a fantastic early Christmas present - thank you so much BOTB.

“I’m a devoted Liverpool fan and I’m sure they’ll look even better on that big screen - I just hope it fits in the living room.

“I’ve only been playing BOTB a few weeks so this is crazy to me - I can’t believe it.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone so this has come at such a great time, an early Christmas present and something to keep us busy during all of these restrictions.”

Dale used to DJ in clubs and pubs across Yorkshire but has taken his craft online because of the pandemic.

“Thankfully I’m still managing to work by doing shows from home using homerave.tv.” he added.

Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away more than £34m worth of prizes, including supercars, cash and holidays.

The company, listed on the stock market, hands over the keys to two stunning cars each week as well as a ‘lifestyle’ prize. Recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a holiday to the Arctic and £15,000 in cash.

BOTB’s Christian Williams, who surprises the winners every week, said: “Dale has played for a brilliant prize. I just hope it fits in his living room because I’m not sure it would fit in mine! Massive congratulations again, Dale.”
