Incredible moment man singing alone in park is joined by the voices of hundreds of strangers

Watching the news might give you the feeling there isn't a lot of hope left to spread around at the moment.

But every so often, among the things which divide us, small moments can show us that humanity isn't too bad afterall.

London is famed for its antisocial inhabitants, and anyone from the north will be quick to tell you that no one even says hello when you get on the tube.

So when a man sitting alone on a bench begins to sing, you would rightly expect a park full of strangers to handle it in the only way the British know how - avoiding eye contact, carrying on as if it wasn't happening and hoping it stops as soon as possible.

But instead an incredible moment was caught on camera, racking up over a million views and leading others to label it the 'closest humanity has gotten towards world peace'.

The man begins to belt out Jon Bon Jovi's classic Livin' On A Prayer, as his brilliant voice carries over the humdrum noise of hundreds of strangers sitting on the grass surrounding him in a park close to Embankment station on the Thames.

His impromptu concert seems to go largely unnoticed until he reaches the chorus - at which point his lone voice is joined by hundreds of others as the park suddenly becomes alive with the sound of 'Ohh, we're halfway there' as drinks are raised towards the sky.

The man then raises his own can to the backing vocalists in the most heartwarming nod of appreciation between hundreds of strangers you are ever likely to see.

The camera pans round to show the sheer volume of people who became caught in the moment themselves, proving the singer's brave impulse to be worth the risk and a thousand times more.

After being shared online, the powerful video struck a chord with millions of others, as one wrote: "This video made me cry, and I very rarely cry.

"Humans have the ability to be so cruel and yet so beautiful at times too. I wish humanity would come together and choose love all the time just like this."

A second said: "All it takes is one person to move the masses towards good. Be that one person in the world!"

Another replied: "This just brought me out of a really dark place. Gave me hope. Thank you. I had to sing along."
