Thousands of Scots have woken up to severe flooding after thunderstorms descended on the country last night.
Lightning, thunder and heavy rain showers filled the sky in mainly eastern parts of the country during Tuesday evening.
Forecasters say that around 80mm of rain fell in just a matter of hours in parts, which resulted in ‘biblical’ flash floods.
Aberdeenshire, Falkirk, Fife, Perth and Edinburgh are said to have been the most impacted by the adverse conditions.
Shocking pictures have shown the devastating damage caused by the overnight storms.
And experts have warned that there could be further disruption to come as thunderstorms threaten to fill Scottish skies once more later today.
The Met Office anticipates that around 40mm of rain could fall in just an hour in some parts of the country on Wednesday afternoon.
