Incredible footage shows arrival of beautiful harvest moon in the skies across Manchester

Incredible video footage has captured the arrival of a beautiful harvest moon across Manchester.

The harvest moon is defined as the full moon closest to the autumn equinox - when the lengths of the day and night are equal.

This year, the equinox falls on September 22, with the full moon officially having taken place this morning (21 September) at 00.54 BST.

But the nights either side also present a stunning full moon.

Video footage captured by local photographer, Andrew Stuart, shows the mesmerising full disc nestled between the city's skyscrapers on Monday night (September 20).

As streams of cars pass through Regent Road in Salford, the bright white glow of the moon can be seen radiating across the sky.

The equinox is the day on which the lengths of day and night are equal. It signals the true arrival of autumn.

From now until the corresponding equinox in March, the nights will be longer than the days, and until the winter solstice in December, the nights will become progressively longer.
