Incredible Edinburgh clip shows shopping centre's unrecognisable transformation

A video has shown the incredible transformation Fort Kinnaird has undergone in the last decade, with the shopping outlet looking almost unrecognisable today.

Quickly going viral on TikTok, the clip, shared by @retailintruiged, showed Google Maps images of the location spanning from 2009 until present day.

Known to have undergone a series of different construction works over the years since first opening as 'Craig Park' in 1989, the park has seen big names come and go, including the likes of Currys and ToysRUs.

Panning around the image taken of Fort Kinnaird 13 years ago, the video shows the old SCS units, as well as Currys that at the time took over a huge building next to M&S.

Jumping to six years later, some clear changes can be seen, with the likes of Currys and PC World merging into one store. 2015 also saw a new extension open attached to the Fort, which included an Odeon cinema, and a selection of restaurants.

Three years on in 2018, the video then shows the demolition of the Currys store, with M&S also undergoing an upgrade, with the site quickly becoming the largest retail park in Scotland.

Later on in the year, pictures from the summer of 2018 showed the construction of the newer units that are still standing today, with the likes of Wren Kitchens, Greggs and the Card Factory opening their doors in 2019.
