Incredible artist transforms abandoned shop windows into pieces of art to raise awareness for mental health support

A dad-of-two has created incredible pieces of art in abandoned shop windows across Greater Manchester to help spread awareness of mental health support.

Scott Wilcock, 34, from Wigan, runs his own window art company called Snow Graffiti.

Creating stunning art pieces on windows using snow spray, Scott's installations have impressed shoppers and residents with their positive messages.

Scott’s latest designs are situated at Wigan’s Galleries Shopping Centre where four windows have been transformed into uplifting works.

One windows adorns the message 'A smile can hide the deepest pain #BeKind' alongside a girl taking a smiling selfie in one moment and curling up on the floor looking distressed in the next.

Another shows a little boy holding hands with his dad who is dreaming about owning a fancy car and a nice house instead of enjoying the sweet moment like his son is.

"I wanted to give out a positive message aimed at mental health awareness,” Scott said.

"I contacted Wigan Council who loved the idea and suggested that I spray all four windows in the centre of the Galleries Shopping Centre.

"The girl with the phone is a reminder to "Be Kind", aimed at others to remind them that not everyone is ok.

“The girl in the picture is my niece, Georgia Forester [19], who I asked to model for the window.

"The boy walking with his dad is a design I thought about a while ago. It can be seen in so many different ways that I didn't put a quote on it.”

Another design features a lion cub sat in front of a puddle with his reflection showing him as a fully adult lion next to the quote 'A king isn't born, he is made. Believe, achieve, succeed.'

“The cub and lion are aimed at everyone who is wanting to better themselves,” Scott explains.

“I'm a strong believer that anything is possible - all it takes is faith and hard work."

Scott, who lives with Melissa, 32, and two daughters, Maisie, eight, and Alice, five, has gained a huge following on TikTok where his videos have been seen more than half a million times.

He has also amassed nearly 30,000 followers on Facebook too.

His social media profiles show the painstaking process behind his creations, with one fan commenting: "Absolutely amazing."

Another wrote: "This is so empowering."

Scott had previously used his art to raise awareness for mental health problems, painting an image of Caroline Flack on a building last year for the anniversary of her death.

Next to the image of the late Love Island television presenter, who committed suicide in 2020, he painted the final words she posted on social media - "If you could be anything in this world, be kind.”
