Incredible 33-tonne bridge gets police escort through Wishaw streets

A striking 33-tonne bridge constructed in Wishaw left town last week with a police escort.

Staff at Miller Fabrications spent months building the structure, which features dozens of glass panels.

The bridge was loaded onto the lorry last Thursday and left at around 8pm to begin its 48 hour journey to Newark.

Finishing touches are being carried out before it is transported to its final destination, Brayford Wharf Bridge, Lincoln, on Saturday.

Miller Fabrications contracts manager Ricky Gibb said the team was delighted it had made it to Newark safely.

He added: “The team has spent months building this, so it’s a relief to know it arrived down with no problems.”
