In Maitland, a 20 per cent chance of rain on Wednesday will jump to 60 per cent on Thursday and 80 per cent on Friday and Saturday before reaching 90 per cent on Sunday and Monday.

Scone is forecast to have a 70 per cent chance of getting between five and 10mm of rain on Saturday and an 80 per cent likelihood of 10 to 20mm on Sunday.

It comes after temperatures climbed into the 40s in parts of Newcastle and the Hunter on the weekend.
