Increase in demand for weddings at East Kilbride hotel

An East Kilbride hotel has seen a spike in enquiries for wedding packages following the relaxation of COVID-19 rules.

In line with government guidelines, intimate ceremonies can now be held in front of a small group of family and friends.

And, having reopened last month, staff at Crutherland House say they have responded to significant demand for wedding, reshaping its offering to accommodate a range of requests.

It has seen a 25 per cent increase in wedding enquiries compared to the same time last year for couples wanting to tie the knot following lockdown.

The venue is offering the potential to hold this small ceremony now with a larger reception at a later date.

These ‘Sequel weddings’ have been particularly popular with the venue, with wedding co-ordinators working closely with couples to plan not one, but two special days.

Bookings for larger weddings in 2021/2022 are also on the rise, and the hotel is seeing increased bookings for up to 300 guests in its Crutherland Suite.

The impact of COVID-19 can also be seen with couples preferring to book a wedding with the safety and security of everything under one roof rather than having to liaise with multiple suppliers at this challenging time.

Danielle Fabian, wedding coordinator at the hotel, said: “The last few months have created a lot of uncertainty within the wedding market, but we are now seeing a marked rise in consumer confidence.

“This period of lockdown gave us all time to reflect on what is most important to us, and couples are still focused on showcasing their love and commitment to one in other in front of family and friends and are happy to adapt so their special day can still happen.

“Your wedding is one of the most special days of your life and we give a promise to each of our couples that we will do everything we can to create the day they have always dreamed of.

“As we navigate these unprecedented times, it is the ability to be flexible which will get us through.

“The hotel is one of our most romantic wedding venues, with a range of function rooms available. Couples also have the option to tie the knot outside in our beautifully serene gardens.

“Located within a hotel setting, the venue also has everything needed under one roof, removing the hassle and uncertainty of dealing with multiple suppliers.”
