Scots motorists have been blasted for blocking in firefighters by leaving their cars on a narrow road whilst they went off to enjoy a walk
The "inconsiderate" parking meant the fire crew in Banchory, Aberdeenshire were unable to get past the cars yesterday afternoon.
The fire service posted a snap showing the two cars left at the side of a tight road.
Writing on Facebook about the incident, Banchory Fire and Rescue Service said: "So they think this appropriate.
"They are not at the cafe. Away for a walk.
"Impossible for fire appliance to pass."
Local Senior Officer for Aberdeenshire, Martin Tait said: “We would ask members of the public to always be mindful when parking their vehicles, and to be considerate of any potential obstruction to the emergency services.
“On the rare occasions when our crews are faced with an obstruction they will endeavour to use all alternative routes available to them.
“Although we were not attending an emergency call on this occasion we can work with our Police Scotland partners who have the powers to remove any significant obstruction should it impact on our response.”
The image sparked fury online, with social media condemning the drivers' behaviour.
One user wrote: "So many inconsiderate people. They’d be first to complain if the appliances couldn’t get to them!"
Another added: "Totally unacceptable - police should tow it away and charge for release - thoughtless people."
And one person said: "No respect for the fire service who will struggle to get past when a call comes and they are needed."
