Inbetweeners star warns reboot can’t lose its crude humour

  • James Buckley, who played Jay Cartwright in The Inbetweeners, has called for any potential continuation of the show to retain its original "silly, disgusting humour".
  • The sitcom's creators, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, confirmed in October 2025 that the Channel 4 series would be returning.
  • Buckley has not yet been approached for the project and expressed concerns that "cancel culture" might lead to the show's humour being watered down.
  • The original series, which followed four socially inept sixth-formers, aired from 2008 to 2010 and was followed by two highly successful films.
  • While no major details have been revealed, the creators hinted at the involvement of the original cast members in their statement.
