Inbetweeners' James Buckley 'makes £100,000' from lockdown Cameo clips for fans

Inbetweeners star James Buckley has found a way to stay busy during lockdown and has earned himself a decent chunk of cash in the process.

The actor, who played Jay in the hit comedy, has been charging fans to record them personalised messages on the platform Cameo, collecting a whopping £100,000 in the process.

James is among a host of stars who have recently signed up to Cameo, which allows fans to fill in a form with their message requests for roughly a minute-long clip from their favourite celebs, at a set fee, reports the Mirror.

The 32-year-old has filmed more than 3,500 videos for fans, with a charge of £41.50 per clip, according to The Sunday Times.

On his profile, James revealed to fans he was in it for the cash.

"Now, I get asked a load of times to do video messages for people, and I could never be bothered to do it until I found out that there was a way that I could do it for money,” he said.

James added: "So if you want me to congratulate your brother’s birthday or maybe hurl some abuse at a friend of yours who’s getting married or something like that – I can do that all for you now, for a fee. Again, here for the money."

Among the messages he has recorded for Inbetweeners fans, he's also slipped in some classic lines from the show.

With acting work currently on hiatus during the pandemic, James isn't the only celebrity who appears to be cashing in during the lockdown.

Lord of The Rings star Elijah Wood, 39, charges £186 per clip, while Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes, 79, charges £83.

Among some of the highest paid profiles, Caitlyn Jenner charges a huge £2,075 per video.
