If you are looking to get the upper hand on both competitive play and the late stages of Chronicle in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, understanding the game’s elemental affinity system is a must. After all, it does way more than dictate the element of your favorite player’s Keshin.
Don’t worry, though, we are here to help. So you can assemble the perfect players and have a place to return to when in doubt, here’s a full overview of Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road‘s elemental affinity system.

All Elements In Inazuma Eleven Victory Road, Explained
Keeping the franchise’s formula intact, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road brings back the affinity system seen in previous titles, where players can have one out of four elements: Wind, Forest, Fire, and Mountain. The four are then divided into the order shown below, which dictates their weaknesses and strengths. If faced with a weaker element, your player will get a welcome boost.
- Forest is weaker than Fire and stronger than Wind
- Wind is weaker than Forest and stronger than Mountain
- Mountain is weaker than Wind and stronger than Fire
- Fire is stronger than Forest and weaker than Mountain
That boost, though, only relates to their main element. So no, performing a Wind offense move with a Forest player won’t give you an advantage against a Fire-type defender. It is possible, however, to boost the power of your special moves by performing them with a player matching their element. For example, if given the same stats, using Swirly Shot or Spring Thunderclap with Beta will have a greater effect than using it with Raika, whose element is, funny enough, not compatible with her signature.

You can also add another primary element to your player and switch to it on the fly via a Bond Transform or Mix ‘n’ Match. Be warned, though, as some transformations also change your player’s entire kit, albeit temporarily.
But What About Void?
Not officially categorized as a core element in Victory Road, Void is an elemental affinity exclusive to abilities, which is neither weaker nor stronger than any of the main four. The bright side? That also makes it unable to negatively affect a chain.
The Best Elements For Each Position In Inazuma Eleven Victory Road
Although I believe you should go for your favorites instead of chasing the meta, Wind is widely considered to be the best element for strikers, especially considering the best GK pick (Mountain). Fire is then a close second, thanks to its large array of end-game abilities. For MFs, Forest and Wind are regarded as the best via their large selections of Offense abilities, while both Mountain and Forest shine for defenders, given their advantages against the mentioned Fire and Wind.
