Almost 78 days after one of the most tumultuous political elections in history, Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.
You can follow the action live here with TND, from the early hours of Thursday (AEST time).
Outgoing President Donald Trump gave a scathing farewell speech on Inauguration Day eve, refusing to mention Mr Biden by name.
“This week, we inaugurate a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous,” Mr Trump said in a video.
“We extend our best wishes, and we also want them to have luck – a very important word.”
But while Mr Trump makes a surly exit, all eyes are on Mr Biden and his history-making team.
He and imminent Vice President Kamala Harris held a memorial ceremony in Washington DC, to remember all the Americans who have lost their lives to the coronavirus pandemic.
“For many months, we have grieved by ourselves. Tonight, we grieve and begin healing together,” Ms Harris said, who will make history when she becomes the country’s first female and first black and South-East Asian American to serve as the VP.
