'In this together': Everything Leeds United and Jesse Marsch have said about his Elland Road future

Jesse Marsch reiterated the Leeds United board are behind him as the Whites head to Anfield this weekend looking to end their eight game winless run. The Whites boss spoke about having the backing of the Leeds hierarchy again in his pre-match press conference.

The club dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season following defeat to Fulham at Elland Road last time out, with pressure mounting on the American head coach. The board have given their backing to the 48-year-old, with Marsch claiming he couldn't ask Victor Orta for any more.

Angus Kinnear also gave the Leeds boss his support during a talk with supporters last weekend. Defeat to Liverpool would only add further pressure on the Whites, but a positive result heading into the Bournemouth game may just give them the lift they so desperately need.

Here's a round-up of everything said about Jesse Marsch's future:

Jesse Marsch in his latest press-conference

When asked about support from the Whites board, Marsch told the press: "They've been very supportive. I've spoken with Angus, Victor and Andrea multiple times.

"You know, we've done a few things, we're modifying our World Cup schedule, to think about how we can maximise exactly what we need in the moment. Everything from matches to where we're thinking about travelling to training.

"You know, we've talked about adding staff and we're looking carefully at things like psychologists and adding to the complexity of what we do as a staff. You know, transfers, obviously, you know, and they've been very supportive.

"But, of course, I'm not dumb. I understand exactly, that if we don't win games, I put them in a very difficult situation to continue to support me.

"So my focus is entirely on what what is necessary for the next three games and you can include the Wolves match in the Carabao Cup in that as well."

Marsch on Victor Orta support

"He's been amazing as always," Marsch said when asked about talks with Victor Orta. "Supportive, behind me, he believes in the football, believes in the leadership and believes in me. He's encouraged me to stay strong to tell me that he's with me 100% and this is us working together.

"He's done everything a Sporting Director could do for a manager, really. I couldn't ask for any more and it pains me that we all have to go through this.

"It's my job to get us out of it so we can enjoy our relationships and our work together. We're going to find a way to do that."

What Marsch said post-Fulham

Speaking after the poor result against Fulham last weekend, Marsch said: "Listen, again, I understand the frustration from the fans. We are equally frustrated and more so. We are doing everything we can and we are together. We are unified.

The players have been great and I know it hasn't been easy for them or us but we believe in them. We believe in them. I have to find ways to help them get better. The board and I are unified completely."

When asked if there had been talks with the board, he added: "Yeah, we've had clear discussions that we're together in this."

What Angus Kinnear told supporters outside Elland Road

"The results aren't what we needed, everyone knows that," Kinnear told a group of supporters outside Elland Road after Saturday's defeat. "We're working behind the scenes to try and turn things around.

"Players are working hard, Jesse is working really hard, backroom staff are working really hard. We still think he can do a great job for us but the results aren't what we've wanted.

"We will just keep working hard and focus on the next game and that's the best thing we can do. The player's are giving 100%, they're devastated in there. It's going to be tough, every game is tough in this league."

Latest odds for Jesse Marsch to be sacked

The Whites boss is the bookmakers favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked. bettingodds.com has William Hill, Paddy Power and Betfair placing odds of 8/15 for the American to lose his job, while BetVictor have odds of 4/7.
