The Trewithen Dairy at Greymare Farm, Cornwall, is set for a large-scale expansion — thanks to a record £5.7million grant from the Rural Development Programme for England — resulting in 40 new jobs. According to Business Cornwall, the phased expansion is expected to take place over four years and will increase production by 80 percent, providing a massive boost to the dairy sector.

In Birmingham, the B-Hive scheme — a programme to assist students into creative work — has launched 24 paid placements for young people from local universities and colleges looking to forge a career in PR. Roles are available in PR, graphic design, web design and marketing companies within the region. In order to secure a role, students must respond to a brief about improving Birmingham's green credentials by 8 March.

Retail giant Tesco has announced a new training scheme which aims to get school leavers into store manager roles by the age of 23, reports Talking Retail. The two-year course runs as an alternative to A-levels, and will equip those completing the course with an NVQ level 3 — equivalent to three A-levels — and a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. On completion, recruits will join a wider in-house management scheme to continue their progress. Tesco intends to more than double its apprentice intake this year.

Job seekers in the south east have the opportunity to attend a free careers event in Slough on 25 February. The event will feature advice clinics, CV and interview tips and seminars led by various organisations alongside companies promoting job vacancies. Places must be booked online in advance.

The BAFTA/Rocliffe New Writing Forum — a new writing initiative from BAFTA connecting writers with the film and TV industries — is inviting aspiring script writers to submit work to help celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Selected scripts will be performed by leading acting talent at annual events in London and Nottingham, offering writers the chance to network and develop new skills. The deadline for this year's submissions is 8 March.
