In the money: Davina McCall sells East Sussex country mansion for nearly double what she paid for it

She gave us tours around the wacky Big Brother houses for a decade and now Davina McCall has reportedly sold her own, decidedly more tasteful, abode for £6.25million — almost double what she paid for it 10 years ago.

The TV presenter and fitness enthusiast put the 17th-century stone mansion she shared with Matthew Robertson, 50, her husband of 17 years, on the market last year after a highly-publicised breakdown of the couple’s marriage.

The Grade II-listed property in the village of Wadhurst, East Sussex, has six bedrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court and 38 acres of private parkland complete with water features and topiary.

It also comes with private access via a footpath on the grounds, to the local train station, with routes to London taking just over an hour.

Heart of her home: this kitchen has been the backdrop to many an Instagram post

Four outbuildings – The Barn, The Cottage, The Coach House and The Lodge – provide eight further bedrooms ideal for renting out or housing other members of the family.

Followers of McCall’s Instagram account will recognise the interiors, especially the rustic, flagstone-floored kitchen-diner, where one photo shows her dog posing and another sees her busy making a Justin Bieber sign with her teenage daughters at the big round table.

It is unclear whether the house, a former medieval nunnery, has been staged for sale, but it is full of on-trend touches, from the monochrome photographs hanging in the hallway to the pineapple lamps in the spacious living room with its grand pillars and solid wood flooring.

Jewel-toned velvet sofas inject colour into one of the living rooms, while a Pop Art-style portrait of former US president Barack Obama hangs beneath a vaulted skylight ceiling in another.

Jazzy statement rugs add further fun factor.

McCall, 51, and Robertson bought the country mansion for £3.2million in 2009.
