In the Land of Saints and Sinners: Dublin street transported back in time for Netflix movie starring Liam Neeson

A north Dublin street was taken back in time today for filming of a new Netflix thriller starring Liam Neeson and Ciaran Hinds.

In the Land of Saints and Sinners, which also stars Colm Meaney and Kerry Condon, sees Neeson play a newly retired assassin who finds himself drawn into a lethal game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists.

The film is set in a remote Irish village and the stars have been spotted filming around Donegal over the past month.

Filming shifted to Drumcondra with scenes being shot on St George's Avenue from early this morning.

The street was transformed for the shoot with cars from the 1960s and 1970s parked on the road.

A huge crew filled the street, which has been closed off to the public, although that didn't prevent many curious passers-by from stopping to get a glimpse at the filmmaking process.

The streaming giant released first look photos earlier this month. One of the pictures shows Neeson's character with a number of cuts and bruises on his face pointing a gun at the camera.

The other shows Neeson on a cliff edge pointing a rifle out to the sea with Hinds, dressed in what appears to be a garda uniform, standing beside him.

The plot summary according to movie data base IMDB reads: "In a remote Irish village, a damaged Finbar is forced to fight for redemption after a lifetime of sins, but what price is he willing to pay? In the land of saints and sinners, some sins can't be buried."

The film is directed by Robert Lorenz and is written by Terry Loane and Mark Michael McNally.

Lorenz previously directed Neeson in The Marksman which topped the box office in early 2021.

A release date for In the Land of Saints and Sinners has not yet been confirmed.
