“In the city,” Paul Weller once sang, “there’s a thousand things I want to say to you.” Had he had the room, he would no doubt have added that a photo would have done the job even better – as we hope you’ll demonstrate with this latest assignment.
Wherever you live in the world, we’d like you to share a photograph or video which perfectly sums up how you feel about your city. You don’t even have to live there – it could be the city you work in, or pass through.
So we’re not simply seeking scenic views – what we want is something from the heart that encapsulates what makes the city so special for you. Or, for that matter, so loathsome (no need to use a rose-tinted lens here).
We want to know all about your choice – what is it about this image or video that sums up the city for you? Tell us all about it – including as much detail as possible – in the description field underneath. And, of course, don't forget to tell us which city it is!
Share your videos and photos with us via GuardianWitness, and we'll feature our favourites on the site – AND as part of an exciting new Guardian project that is launching very soon. We'd love to create a map of your cities too, so please switch geolocation on or choose 'add location' when you contribute.
