'In Southgate we trust' - Leeds United fans agree as Kalvin Phillips retains England faith

Leeds United fans have sent their best wishes to Kalvin Phillips after the Whites midfielder retained his place for England's Euro 2020 quarter-final against Ukraine.

The Leeds United midfielder has started every match at this summer's tournament, earning rave reviews in the process.

The 25-year-old is once again selected by Gareth Southgate after an impressive display against Germany on Tuesday, having formed a strong relationship with Declan Rice in midfield.

Most of the discussion ahead of kick-off surrounded the dilemma posed to Southgate, with Phillips amongst three England stars walking a disciplinary tightrope.

A booking for Phillips, Rice or Harry Maguire would rule them out of any potential semi-final tie, with all bookings wiped away after the last-eight tie.

However, Southgate has stuck to his word and avoided the temptation to rest any of his important players despite a potential suspension, much to the delight of Leeds supporters.

It means Phillips continues in midfield alongside Rice, with Mason Mount recalled to the starting XI after missing out against Germany, as one of two changes.

Jordan Pickford continues in goal with an unchanged defence of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

Mount replaces Kieran Trippier as England revert from 3-4-3 to 4-3-3, having been forced to isolate up until Monday, which all but ruled him out of the last 16 tie.

The headlines news is a first start for Jadon Sancho as he replaces Bukayo Saka in attack, with Raheem Sterling on the opposite side of captain Harry Kane.

Saka misses out on the squad altogether, with Ben White and Chelsea defender Reece James also not included in the matchday squad.

Jack Grealish remains on the bench despite his impact against Germany as a substitute.
