In pictures: Youngsters dig for dinosaur bones at East Kilbride children's zoo

Youngsters had a roaring good time at Calderglen Zoo last week with the return of the park’s popular Dinosaur Days event.

Children hunted for prehistoric creatures, identified dino bones and fossils in the park conservatory and gardens while making dino crafts and learning all about evolution and extinction – past and present.

There was also a dinosaur trail around the zoo where mini archeologists could collect stamps and be entered into a prize draw to win a Meet the Meerkats experience.

This fun family day out was simply animal magic!

The next Dinosaur Days event runs from 11am till 4pm on May 24. A small charge will apply.

Dinosaur hunting is just one of many exciting talks, tours and activities on offer at Calderglen Zoo this summer.

Other animal experiences throughout the school holidays include Meet the Meerkats and Wild Breakfast which involves feeding the meerkats, coatis, kookaburras, owls, guinea pigs, rabbits and Scottish wildcats.

The park’s Summer Dinosaur Hunt runs throughout the summer holidays from June 29 till September 1.

Go along and join in the fun, search the conservatory, gardens and zoo for the missing bones, fossils, dinosaurs to complete the prehistoric treasure trail.
