The winners of a light-hearted business awards which recognise the biggest networkers, social media junkies and the people who love getting dressed up for the red carpet, have been revealed.
The Leicester and Leicestershire Alternative Business Awards took place at Curve Theatre to help launch the 2020 Leicester Comedy Festival.
Comedian Patrick Monahan hosted the laughter-packed night celebrating the best loved Leicestershire business people, from lawyers and publishers to marketing experts, pub groups and recruitment firms.
Money raised goes to the charity behind the comedy festival, , which runs community projects through the year such as helping men take their health seriously to encouraging school children to eat well.
Leicester - who was even up for one of the awards for his quirky approach to business – said: “The Alternative Business Awards 2020 was a great way for us to launch Leicester Comedy Festival 2020.
“It was an amazing evening and huge thanks to the local business community for continuing to support the festival and our registered charity Big Difference Company.
“I hope many of the business men and women who were there will join the thousands of other people at festival shows and events over the next 18 days.
“Without the support of so many businesses we couldn’t continue to grow and develop the festival and our year round community programme so a huge thank you must go to all those who supported the Alternative Business Awards.”
The first Alternative Business Awards were held in 2016 and this year’s awards committee was made up of Geoff and Katherine West, from Big Difference Company, Eileen Richards, from Eileen Richards Recruitment, and Simon Winfield, from Red Monkey Play.
Eileen said: “I love working with the team at Big Difference Company and the local business community to produce the Alternative Business Awards.
“We have probably all sat through dull and long business awards ceremonies but this is really something different.”
