The skylines of Edinburgh and Glasgow were lit up this evening as both cities held their annual Christmas lights switch on events.
In Glasgow , some 13,000 ticket holders filled George Square for the occasion.
The festive crowd was treated to entertainment from Michelle McManus and members of the Soundsational Choir and the cast of The Steamie.
Not be outdone, Edinburgh saw thousands of people fill the capital's streets to witness the switch on.
The show - hosted by Forth One Breakfast Show’s Arlene Stuart - saw performances by Little Voices Big Stars and Intercultural Youth Scotland.
Santa Clause also dropped in as the city's Christmas tree, a gift from Norway, was lit.
