The King and Queen appeared in high spirits as they arrived at St Asaph Cathedral to mark the Royal Maundy Service, a centuries-old tradition which sees the monarch distribute specially-minted coins to pensioners in recognition of their service to the community.

The cathedral in North Wales provided a striking backdrop, with crowds gathering to catch a glimpse of the royal couple and the Yeomen of the Guard as they greeted well-wishers.
