In pictures: Lightning, thunder and golf-ball-sized hail lash south-east Queensland

In Melawondi, near Kandanga and Imbil, residents have been collecting the hailstones in buckets.

An early afternoon storm system brought fierce winds and golf-ball-sized hail to the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

In Brisbane, the burst of rain was short-lived but caused flash-flooding during peak hour in some northern suburbs including Albion.
