In pictures: How Bristol streets differ from area to area

As is the case with most cities, Bristol's streets can look very different from area to area.

A stroll through Westbury-on-Trym contrasts markedly with a walk down East Street in Bedminster.

So we decided to send out our photographers to capture images showing the variation which can be seen across the city.

Have a look through the pictures below to see the differences and similarities which we found.

Westbury-on-Trym

Westbury-on-Trym, located in the north-west of the city, boasts many beautiful period buildings, many of them Victorian or dating back to the 1930s.

It is noted for its village-style atmosphere and - as the name suggests - the River Trym flows through it.

Stapleton Road

Once picked out by then home secretary David Blunkett for its high crime rate, Stapleton Road has been praised recently for the scale of the improvements it has made in the past decade or two.

Sea Mills

The north-western suburb of Sea Mills is a largely residential area, with a healthy serving of green space.

East Street

Bedminster's East Street has not escaped the challenges faced by the British retail sector in recent years, but it remains home to a lively range of characters.
