In Pictures: Flooding hits Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife after heavy rain

The east of Scotland has been hit by flooding after a thunderstorm arrived on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 60% of August's rain fell in just a few hours during the torrential downpour.

Some of the affected areas included the roundabout near Edinburgh Airport, which was left completely blocked.

Water levels in the capital have gone down on Thursday morning, but parts of Fife and the Lothians are still experiencing problems.

Properties in Rosyth have been flooded and trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow have been disrupted due to a flooded rail tunnel at Winchburgh.

You can see pictures showing the extent of the flooding in our gallery above.
