In pictures: Elland Road deserted as Billy Bremner statue is given subtle addition during coronavirus lockdown

The statue of Leeds United legend Billy Bremner has been handed one subtle addition by Leeds United supporters.

Unveiled in 1999, the former Whites skipper is remembered with an iconic bronze statue that lives outside Elland Road.

Days after Bremner's death from a heart attack, ages 54, the club decided to mark his impact on the club permanent tribute in the form of a statue.

It took over two years to create and stands at nine-foot-tall and stands on a white marble plinth outside Elland Road.

Over the years, the stature has been dressed in Leeds scarves and various other pieces of merchandise from the club shop.

However, the latest addition pictured is a face mask, due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

Picture in the last week below the statue is shown wearing a mask, to protect Bremner from the infectious disease.

Of course, it's unknown who and when the mask was placed there exactly but it's clearly a recent addition, likely placed by a Leeds United supporter.

It remains to be seen when the Whites will return to Elland Road, with Championship football delayed until April 30, at the earliest, due to the coronavirus.
