In pictures: Bristol lies empty as the city welcomes in the New Year

Many of Bristol's well known and busy streets lie empty today as most Bristolians stay in bed praying the New Year hangover will cease by the end of the day.

From Broadmead, to East Street and Temple Gate, there is complete silence following the chaos and noise from the previous night.

The only noise is the occasional car and emergency service vehicle, as 999 workers still have to work 24/7 looking after everyone.

In fact, firefighters were called to Clifton Triangle on New Year's Eve.

After Bristol celebrated the end of the decade in style last night , here are some of the pictures of the morning after.
