Hong Kong police and protesters were engaged in a standoff Wednesday, after authorities delayed debate on a proposed extradition bill that would allow the extradition of citizens facing charges to mainland China, Reuters reports.
Details: Tens of thousands of protesters stormed a key Hong Kong road near government offices as the bill was being prepared to go before the full legislature, per Reuters. It'll now be delayed at a later date, officials said, according to AP. Hong Kong's leader Carrie Lam backs the measure despite the large-scale pushback and concerns raised from the Trump administration.
